Prof. Dr. Tom FRITZ, Max Planck Institute

Prof. Dr. Tom Fritz is leading a research group at Max-Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Science working on the topic how music evoked brain plasticity. His motivation comes from the fact that neuroscientifically informed music therapy is on the verge of a break through to novel and highly effective forms of social/medical. A key feature in how this can be achieved is by novel forms of music technology that allow for a newly acquired embodiment of musical actions.

Tom will share his experience and knowledge on Intuition and Neuroscience. Beside his position at the Max Planck Institute Tom is a visiting Professor for Empirical Music Research at the Institute for Psychoacoustics and Electronic Music (IPEM), Ghent University. He holds a degree in biology and chemistry, and a master of fine arts at the Kunsthochschule Berlin in interface design and new media, theoretical thesis on ‘Non intentional creative processes’.
